Corona Virus - Special Terms & Conditions:
For all ongoing customers who were receiving lessons prior to the outbreak of corona virus and were contacted in March/April 2020 please note the following conditions:
All group lesson students were contacted with a generous offer to upgrade their 20 minute group lessons to 1:1 drum lessons via an online service (zoom/what's app/etc) lasting 15mins, the usual monthly cost of these is £34.50 per month (50% more than the cost being charged). These lessons are heavily discounted but we would like to show our appreciation for your continued support and happily offer this product.
Students were all contacted before April 2020 to either:
- Stop lessons without penalty
- Pause lessons with a view to continue again in September 2020
- Sign up to 1:1 - 15 min online lessons discounted from £34.50 to £23.00 per month
- If nil response was received then direct debits remained charged, details on reimbursement of these direct debits is as per our usual T's & C's listed further below.
If you contacted us asking to receive lessons, remained paying your Direct Debit, but for an unknown reason have yet to receive your lessons this will be dealt with by offering a lesson bundle. Our full apologies and we appreciate you understanding in these uncertain times.

Normal Term's and Conditions:
Payment of lessons - This is to be made by Direct Debit through "Go Cardless".
Cooling off period - For new customers joining Up Beat Drum Academy for the first time once signed up by completing the online sign up form and registering for payments through Go Cardless Direct Debits you will begin lessons. If after your first lesson you really aren't sure it's for you then you can withdraw from lessons. You must email us before the date of your second scheduled lesson and confirm that you wish to withdraw from music lessons. By doing this we will waive the need to give 6 weeks notice (see below). Your tie to these terms and conditions will become void and you will not be charged for the initial lesson that your child attended.
Discontinuing lessons after the cooling off period:
Half a terms written notice is required if your child wishes to discontinue lessons (that is 6 school term time weeks notice). If we do not receive written notice you will continue to be charged for lessons until notice is given, once notice is then received you will be charged a further half a terms fees (6 lessons). To give notice you may either send an email to info@upbeatdrumacademy.com or letter via post to UpBeat Drum Academy, 63 Downlands Way, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 3HS. Please note that that we will assume you wish to continue with lessons if we do not receive written confirmation explaining otherwise. If you are due a refund after lesson cancelation because your payments are more than the cost of the lessons to the point of end of notice then a refund will be issued and the direct debit cancelled. If however there is an outstanding amount due, a final payment will be requested through Go Cardless, once this is cleared your account and direct debit will be closed. (Please note it will remain your responsibility to check the direct debit is cancelled once the final payment on the account has been paid, an email is sent each month by Go Cardless informing you of any payments due to be made, if you notice additional payments that you weren't expecting you must contact us immediately to check these are correct. Failure to do so and allowing a direct debit to continue without informing us will not be the responsibility of Up Beat Drum Academy, we will only refund 1 month of these over payments). However if you cancel your direct debit without giving notice or you still have an outstanding amount this will incur an admin fee of £50. You will then be contacted with a final bill to be paid via BACS or Go Cardless, you will then have 30 days in which to pay this final amount. If after the 30 days the amount is still outstanding then we as Up Beat Drum Academy reserve the right to add an additional admin fee of £50 for each additional 30 days period and subsequent attempt we make to contact you in recovery of the outstanding balance. If necessary we will pursue recovery of the debt through the most suitable means and you agree to pay additional fees this may incur. As always if there is a problem or difficulty with any payments then you should contact us on the details below at the earliest opportunity so a mutually agreed solution can be found.
Student absences are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed with UpBeat Drum Academy. We as Up Beat Drum Academy cannot be held responsible for missed lessons due to school trips, other activities that the children are signed up to and school sports days conflicting with lessons. In the unfortunate event that the teacher is unavailable to give any scheduled lesson, the lesson will usually be rearranged or alternatively the fee will be credited to the August direct debit. Please note that we will always do our best to attend classes, however in the event of extreme weather conditions we cannot accept responsibility for the cancellation of lessons such as school closures as this is beyond our control. For our during school lessons it can occasionally be difficult to locate a child for a lesson be it due to a break time or them not being in their classroom. For example they could be outside for PE, the teacher and the other children in the class will to a reasonable extent search for the child, if however this is affecting the class for the other students then the teacher will have to return and teach the lesson to the present children. Please note there are safeguards in place for this, an online registration system and a regular music practice diary is kept, this should highlight if there is a regular problem and you are encouraged to keep in touch with the tutor via the practice diary. As always if there is a problem or difficulty with any payments then you should contact us on the details below at the earliest opportunity so a mutually agreed solution can be found. Please note that fees are subject to termly review.

Our aim is for all students to have fun whilst in a safe environment. Alongside this we expect students to behave in a courteous, disciplined manner during their classes. In the interest of your child's well-being whilst in the teacher's care, the teacher must be informed of any allergies, medical or other condition affecting your child.
